School of Resources and Environment currently offers three undergraduate majors, including Resource Recycling Science and Engineering (a provincial-level first-class undergraduate major), Environmental Science and Engineering (an Institute-level first-class undergraduate major), and Seed Science and Engineering. The school has 688 enrolled students on campus.
The school has a faculty of 37 full-time teachers. Of these, 55.5% have senior professional titles, 78% hold doctoral degrees, 9 are master's supervisors, and 45% are "dual-qualified" teachers (teachers with both academic expertise and industry experience). It also has 1 provincial-level Outstanding Teacher, 5 teachers were selected into Guizhou Province's “Thousand-Talent Program”, and 1 teacher was selected into Guizhou Association for Science and Technology's Young Scientific and Technological Talents Support Program. In 2021, one of its teaching teams was accredited as a provincial-level ideological and political teaching team. In 2024, it won the honorary title of "Model Worker Vanguard" awarded by Moutai Group.
The school has obtained approval for several provincial and municipal-level scientific research platforms, such as "Guizhou Engineering Research Center for Efficient Utilization of Distiller's Grains" (approved by Guizhou Provincial Development and Reform Commission) and the "Innovation Team for Efficient Recycling of Distillery Wastes in Chishui River Basin of Guizhou Higher Education Institutions" (approved by Guizhou Provincial Department of Education). It also participates in the construction of the "Guizhou Provincial Field Scientific Observation and Research Station for Ecosystem in the Middle Reaches of Chishui River". Moreover, the school has built 13 teaching and research laboratories, such as the "Solid Waste Treatment and Resource Utilization Laboratory" and the "Environmental Monitoring and Water Quality Analysis Laboratory".
In recent years, faculty members have presided over 13 National Natural Science Foundation projects, 20 provincial and ministerial-level projects, more than 50 municipal and departmental-level projects, and over 10 horizontal projects. They have published a total of over 80 academic papers, secured more than 20 authorized invention patents, and participated in the compilation of 4 relevant standards. Additionally, their research achievements have won 2 Creative Awards from State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Guizhou Province and 3 Technological Innovation Awards from Moutai Group.
The school has been approved for 1 provincial-level first-class undergraduate program construction site and has won 2 second prizes of Guizhou Provincial Teaching Achievement Awards. It has obtained approval for 1 national-level first-class undergraduate course (Solid Waste Treatment, Disposal and Resource Utilization) and 6 provincial-level first-class undergraduate courses (provincial-level "Golden Courses"), as well as 1 provincial-level ideological and political demonstration course. Additionally, it has been approved for 6 provincial-level teaching reform projects and 1 provincial-level educational science planning project. Over the past three years, faculty members of have won 2 Second prizes and 1 Third prize in provincial-level teaching innovation competitions.
The school has actively developed a student development support system featuring "mutual promotion of learning and research for growth". It focuses on dimensions such as scientific research training, innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, and career guidance to facilitate students’ all-round development. In the past three years, students have participated in more than 300 innovation and entrepreneurship competitions at various levels. They won 1 national gold award in the 7th China International College Students' "Internet+" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, 5 national second/third prizes in other "Innovation and Entrepreneurship" competitions, 7 provincial first prizes, and more than 30 other provincial-level awards. Graduates of the school secure employment in brewing enterprises, environmental protection enterprises, environmental monitoring institutions, and government public institutions, with an annual employment rate exceeding 90%.
The school adheres to the strategy of "strengthening the school through Party building". It further promotes the dual integration of "Party building + Scientific research" and "Party building + Talents cultivation", and builds the "Chishui Danxin" (loyalty of Chishui) Party building brand. The student Party branch was awarded the "Model Party Branch for Party Building Work in Guizhou Higher Education Institutions" in 2022 and became a "National Model Party Branch Construction Unit" in 2024. Furthermore, the school fosters the education ecosystem where ideological and political elements integrate into every stage of the teaching process.
Looking ahead, the School of Resources and Environment will closely align with the new requirements of the national ecological civilization construction, the "dual carbon" goals), and the modern agricultural strategy. It will focus on the main task of "applying for master's degree program qualification", promote the integrated layout of "majors-disciplines-platforms-teams", and build a high-level local education system for resources and environment with distinct features and competitive advantages.
